Abstract

The panel examines a set of well-known issues in Kant's legal-political philosophy, which raise questions about his account of justice. There is, first, the question of what cosmopolitan right represents for Kant and what his account specifies for visitors, immigrants and refugees. Secondly, there is the issue of the methodology of Kant's legal-political philosophy, in particular the relation between Kant's critical philosophy and science, geometry and mathematics more generally. Thirdly, another methodological issue concerns Kant's view on legislative interpretation. Finally, an important problem concerns the alleged racism of Kant's philosophy. These will be some of the problems discussed by this panel.
