Abstract

Justice and fairness have emerged as some of the most pressing issues in the process of energy transition. This panel offers a cross-cutting perspective on the issue. It introduces a novel energy justice operational framework, discusses the challenges of marrying market-based RES support schemes with energy justice policies, maps just decarbonization policies across the OECD countries and takes a deep dive into the complexity of navigating through the decarbonization process. Finally, it raises painful questions regarding the North-South relations governing new energy sources and new technologies.
