Abstract

The panel addresses the relationship between two key political organizations in representative democracies: interest groups and political parties. To do so, the panel includes papers that examine how, when and why do interest groups interact with political parties, when are they more relevant for parties and the consequences for political parties. Additionally, the panel includes papers that analyze the relationship between interest groups and policymakers more generally from the perspective of the revolving door phenomenon.
