The point of the panel is to explore the connections between climate activism and general issues about the legitimacy and political opportunity of civil disobedience and riots. While views about the legitimacy and point of civil disobedience are well explored in standard political theory, views about just riots and global civil disobedience are still inchoate. Moreover, the connection between the specificities of climate policies and climate advocacy and civil disobedience and riots as political tools is still to be explored. The panel aims to start filling this gap.
