Abstract

This panel explores the various dimensions of the liminality and insecurity of migration. Papers in the panel explore on the one hand the individual consequences of the liminality of migration by evaluating the securitization and further irregularization of migration by policies criminalizing NGO and rescue activities in the Mediterranean sea, the challenges of long waiting period within asylum procedures on unaccompanied minors or the implications of the lack of any legal status of women in Israel. On the other hand papers in the panel focus on theoretical and normative implications of the liminality on civil society organizations, NGOs and street level bureaucrats.
