The panel seeks to shed light on the challenges facing representative democracy and proposes new and innovative ways for addressing them. The panel includes theoretical contributions on the relationship between representation and democracy and the role of partisanship. It offers, additionally, empirical investigations of institutional proxy representation for future generations, and an innovative systemic deliberative approach to electoral constituency design.
