Latin America has always been at the center of policy innovation, particularly as it confronted a unique set of challenges. This panel brings together papers studying very relevant and recent public policies debates in the region; as well as the novel institutional responses in development to tackle different problems across different countries. The issues range from sustainable innovation programs and foreign policies that match the development demands from international and supranational organizations, to environmental issues, increasingly relevant in the international stage, their uptake by national political parties during elections, and their actual implementation by governments once in office. They also tackle the institutional responses to intraregional migration and to the needs and demands of truly equitable notions of citizenship, addressing questions of integration, access to social rights, and social cohesion with regard to minorities and marginalized populations.
