Abstract

The papers collected in this panel investigate institutional legacies, lock-ins and path dependencies in climate politics and green transformations. Given the ever-increasing urgency of decarbonization and socio-ecological transformation, the question gains in importance as to what holds back the requisite policies and political decisions. What are the structural, institutional and indeed political reasons for climate and sustainability politics to trail so far behind the defined and agreed political objectives? The individual papers of this panel pursue these questions on different scales (national and supra-national) and from different conceptual and methodological angles.
