Studies in foreign policy have recently emphasized new emerging trends, particularly in bilateral relations. The panel discusses a typical aspect of relations among states, associated to sovereignty and asymmetry of power. However, alignment and patronage have changes, following transformations in security, in authoritarianism and ideology. Papers analyse these emerging developments in respect to states and intergovernmental organizations in different regional contexts.
