Abstract

National political parties compete on multiple levels, often needing to adjust their ideological positions, and balance their domestic priorities with frequently conflicting perceptions and support for the EU. These concerns are especially relevant to smaller and more extreme parties that are often less experienced with EU-level political competition. This panel investigates these questions including through analyses on Italy, Romania, and Poland.
