Abstract

With persistent and even increasing disparities between regions within the European Union, EU regional policy occupies a central place in addressing a range of economic and societal challenges. The papers in this panel look at the policy dynamics around EU regional policy, focusing on both its impact on economic and social development and the consequences that regional policy arrangements have for the political legitimacy of the EU.
