Abstract

Reproductive Justice theory advances our understanding of inequalities in reproduction that goes beyond the rights- or choice-based discussion surrounding reproductive health. This panel comprises papers that theoretically and/or conceptually engage with reproductive justice and discuss a variety of realms of reproduction, broadly conceived, from birth care to care work. Moreover, they engage more broadly with the history and (future) advancements of reproductive justice theory and relevant social movements, and critically investigates existing research practices from a reproductive justice lens in various disciplines, including economics, demography and gender studies. The panel includes papers that are informed by neighbouring theoretical strands relevant to reproductive justice theory, from Marxist feminist theory to capability approach. Overall, the panel asks exciting and challenging theorical and conceptual questions that concern a variety of research and policy fields.
