Abstract

This panel provides a colourful and diverse outlook on crises in LGBTQ+ lives. The papers explore crises of both global as well as intimate character. The first paper discusses the position of an institutional actor at the EU level (European Parliament’s LGBTI Intergroup) and its impact on local politics and discourses. Two of the papers discuss different aspects of LGBTQ+ lives in the context of Covid-19 crisis, one focusing on structural consequences and impacts on LGBTQ+ lives, the other on the individual level of family and intimate lives. This micro, intimate level is followed in three interesting case studies: of the USA, Kenya and Britain which all exist in a specific yet powerful environment of LGBTQ+ policies and discourses.
