Many of humanity’s most important contemporary challenges—safeguarding people from pandemics, preventing catastrophic climate change, or averting conflict—fall within the remit of international organizations’ missions. Scholars of IOs are increasingly trying to understand how they can do so more effectively. This panel seeks contributions that study when, how, and why IOs fail or succeed in delivering on their mandates. The panel explicitly encourages submissions employing quantitative or qualitative methods, focusing on all issue areas, and employing various theoretical perspectives.
