Abstract

Democratic participatory innovations are characterized by a mix of online as well as offline participatory democracy (blended participation). Participatory budgeting and deliberative minipublics are high on the agenda. Most of these instruments in the invited space have an digital component. Online Platforms such as DECIDIM and Consul are offering new invited space for participation. What are the online and offline instruments (blended participation) implemented? How are these combined and sequenced? What role can generative AI play in these processes? The panel zooms in on modes and applications of online participation, and is open for theoretical overviews, criteria for evaluation as well as empircal evidence.
