Abstract

This panel examines how identity-based emotions transform social and political grievances into democratic exclusion. The papers analyze ressentiment, social devaluation, identity anxiety, and subjective threat to show how feelings of misrecognition undermine democratic inclusion. Together, they conceptualize grievance as an affective–relational process at the heart of contemporary populist politics.
