Abstract

Art, activism, and justice are deeply intertwined, with artistic approaches offering creative and unconventional methods of justice advocacy. Art offers more inclusive methods and fora of communication, providing a way for activists to challenge hegemonic narratives. Increasingly, human rights and transitional justice scholarship is considering the role of art in justice activism, as well as whether art constitutes a form of justice itself. To further the interdisciplinary study of art and justice, this panel brings together researchers looking at the mobilisation of artistic forms of activism in pursuit of transitional justice and human rights.
