Speakers Negar Partow Rola El-Husseini Dean This webinar explores the gendered dimensions of academic freedom in a time of growing political polarisation, conflict, institutional precarity, and attacks on critical scholarship. We will discuss how gender shapes experiences of censorship, surveillance, harassment, and exclusion within universities and public discourse, particularly for women, LGBTQ+ scholars, and researchers working on race, sexuality, migration, and conflict. Bringing together interdisciplinary perspectives, the discussion considers the unequal risks scholars face globally from a gender perspective and reflects on strategies of solidarity, resistance, care, and institutional accountability in defending academic freedom.
