Abstract

The study of electoral campaigns has enormously grown over time: particular the advent of new technologies has deeply modified their dynamics and equlibria. Parties and candidates have adapted their communication with voters, the provision of information, and the strategic management of resources to a profoundly changed media system. This panel addresses the communicative and informative innovation brought about by new media by exploring the behaviours of parties and candidates in times of permanent campaigning. The studies presented at this panel bring evidence from a number of different contexts including non-western countries, broadening our current understanding of campaign style and effects.
