Abstract

Since December 2010, the Arab World has been undergoing a historical process of rapid and deep change in its political and social structures. This panel will analyse various aspects of these transformations combining interdisciplinary and cross-methodological approaches. In particular, papers in this panel will bring together different perspectives on the changes that have taken place in the Middle East and North Africa region post-Uprisings, from diverse theoretical and disciplinary traditions that critically examine both orthodox and heterodox models in transition studies. The papers will draw from the research conducted within "ArabTransitions", a EU-funded international project (2013-2016) that explored political and social transformations in the Arab world by using survey-based research. In doing so, we shall explore comparatively the beliefs, values, and behaviour with respect to political and social transformations in seven Arab countries (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq).
