Abstract

Nearly two decades of limited success of Transitional Justice has greatly propelled the discourse on Transformative Justice in peace and conflict academia. The discourse that was immature until before half a decade has attracted considerable scholarly attention and is demanding some test applications now. Truth, Justice, Reparations and Institutional Reform, though became the buzzwords in the post-conflict peacebuilding bazaar as the pillars of Transitional Justice, their full and efficient realisation has not been possible in practice. There is a substantive level of study that sheds a critical light on the effectiveness of Transitional Justice. Now, the academia has reached a consensus that the transformative justice could be the solution not only to address the violence and atrocities of the past but also to usher the fragile society towards perpetual peace, stability and development. This requires a set of practical measures of Transformative Justice. Furthermore, as many post-conflict states have been adopting the Transitional Justice mechanisms, it has also been important to light on the ways to switch to the newer concept from the older one. Therefore, this panel welcomes the paper that attempts to, using the state-of-the-art transformative justice perspective, identify (i) the practical measures to switch the Transformative Justice from the existing transitional justice process; and (ii) the guideline to implement transformative justice successfully. Besides this, the panel is also interested in the papers that aim to cover other dynamics of the topic broadly like theoretical approaches and the implement challenges of the Transformative Justice.
