This panel aims to go beyond what is commonly understood by academia as EU Crisis Management by discussing different ways in which the EU acts as crisis manager in practice. This panel focuses both on the internal dimension of the EU, as well as on its external dimension. In particular the first two papers focus on the relation between the EU and its external partners, the first analyse the EU's relations with NATO, the OSCE and the UN in the context of attempts to manage the crisis in Ukraine, the second paper focuses more on the member states dimension of the EU, looking at competing framework that EU member states can choose to better respond to a crisis (UN, NATO, ad-hoc coalitions, etc.). The other three papers focus on the internal EU system to manage crises, discussing its efficiency and effectiveness. In particular the three papers analyse the migration crisis, the refugee crisis and the EU actions in the MENA region.
