Abstract

Party funding is one of the key party organisational resources, but at the same time it has been associated with public distrust of political parties. This panel brings together papers that explore different patterns of private and public party funding, as well as party organisational change. Political finance is examined through the prism of the changing relationship between parties and the state, and as a mechanism of political transparency. Papers in this panel also examine successful and failed reform attempts in party finance transparency regulation as well as its effects on political elite renewal and institutional consolidation.
