Abstract

This panel will look into practical and conceptual insights on the participation of different actors in transitional justice processes and mechanisms, and conditions for their support of these processes. The papers will delve into participation in both traditional mechanisms, such as truth commissions, and also in more innovative, such as processes intended to prevent the repetition of the conflict. It will also question current practices in processes of identification and selection of victims in transitional justice mechanisms. Finally, it will also examine the participation of other actors in these processes, such as civil society leaders, perpetrators and bystanders, beyond the role of victims.
