Abstract

There have been major changes in voter behaviour in the last few years, with declining attachments to major political parties, growing disaffection with politicians, and increased voter volatility. The election of Trump in the US, Macron in France and the success of Corbyn in the UK all point to a seismic shift in voter behaviour. The Papers in this Panel examine the interaction between voter behaviour and electoral institutions, with a view to understanding how institutions should adapt to these new norms of electoral behaviour.
