Abstract

This Panel brings together contributions that focus on critical aspects towards globalization. How does globalization affect political power? In analyzing this process, the case of Russia is brought into discussion, focusing on three dimensions: defense, finance and welfare. Furthermore, anti-globalization discourses are present very often on political stages across the world under the umbrella of populism. The next contribution will tackle several case studies from the European and North American continent with the aim of outlining the similarities and differences of these discourses. The election campaigns of far right parties in Europe are other good illustrations of opposition to globalization, this panel encouraging contributions that analyze these campaigns. In addition, this Panel welcomes Papers that focus on the development of non-state actors and their avenues to influence the local/regional/global political environment.
