Silent Witness: Australian Indigenous Art and Human Rights

This paper examines what kinds of political ideas and entities are generated by Australian state affiliations with indigenous art in the international sector, and how exhibitions register the impact of global politics on state representations of Australia’s race relations. It argues that exhibitions are designed principally to act as witness of Australia’s apparent recognition of indigenous rights within the international forum of the UN Human Rights Council.
