Abstract

Revolving doors are often considered a dubious public management practice, often associated with an imbalance in political priorities and political decision making. We suggest an alternative perspective that illustrates how the revolving door phenomenon might result in good policies. Indeed, it revolving doors might give opportunity to more well-informed decision making that serves the public interest. In brief, it cannot be seen in black-and-white terms. One objective of this paper is to show that our judgment lies first on our conception of politics and our vision of the best means to realize the common good while drawing the most appropriate gatekeepers to make it true.
