Abstract

The first discussant is Kees van Kersbergen. He is Professor at the Department of Political Science, at Aarhus University of Aarhus. His main research topics are: comparative politics, political economy, welfare states, inequality, political parties, religion and politics, public policy, democracy, populism. He recently has published “The politics of inequality” (together with Carsten Jensen, Palgrave 2016) in which he argues that contemporary democracies vary greatly in how much inequality they tolerate. The book deals with key questions like: Is there something morally wrong with inequality, how does inequality affect political participation and engagement, and who decides in the politics of inequality?
