Abstract

The research paper undermines the impact of undemocratically conducted elections on the democratic level of a country. The analysis of the general elections in Thailand 2019 shows that elections can impact the democratic level negatively. The data is based on reports of Freedom House (FH) and the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), a leading monitoring organization. Applying a qualitative in-depth analysis, the study aims to specifically identify undemocratic aspects of the election and its impact on the democratic level.
