Abstract

The coronavirus pandemic has affected the entire world, regardless of developed or developing countries. And fighting it has become a challenge not only in terms of medical issues, but also in terms of political issue, especially in the field of aid. Moreover this ‘pandemic aid’ is quite specific, because it firstly concerns mutual support of developed countries and is focused on meeting their urgent needs. What’s more – as some NGDOs claim – it may lead to the blocking of readiness to support the world’s poorest societies, and cause another pandemic: a hunger pandemic. According to its development cooperation policy Poland’s involvement in development cooperation is motivated - inter alia - by international solidarity. And no doubt solidarity is what the world needs now as never before. So the purpose of this study is to analyze the activities of Polish Aid in times of Covid-19, and to answer whether Poland still supports developing countries in times of global crisis. Researching this issue seems to be interesting, because the Polish government claims that aid activities are continued, and Polish NGDOs perceive it differently.
