Abstract

Although forced migration is not a new phenomenon, the number of people forcibly displaced worldwide has reached unprecedented levels. Due to the scope and severity of the issue, international community as well as national governments have been attempting to find sustainable solutions for people who are expelled from their homelands. Recent quantitative studies have broadly discussed significant causes and effects of refugee flows. Yet, solutions to refugee related crises have received insufficient theoretical and empirical attention from the quantitative studies. Based on resettlement data from the UNHCR covering 46 countries for the period 2003-2020, this paper seeks to contribute to the forced migration literature by examining factors affecting resettlement policies of countries.
