Abstract

This research paper examines the way of organizing the pilot research that will be carried out within the framework of the International Social Survey Program (ISSP) and focuses on the issue of digital societies (ISSP Digital Societies Module I-2024). The specific survey is scheduled to be conducted in 2024, while the pilot survey will be conducted in Greece. The basic exploratory hypothesis of this proposal is the interpretation of political behavior based on the answers of Greek citizens to specific questions of the questionnaire on digital societies concerning, for example, personal access and use of the Internet and digital technologies, the impact of digitization on communication patterns and media consumption, Civic Engagement in the Digital Age and their attitudes towards artificial intelligence (AI). For this purpose, additional data will be collected from web pages using the web-scraping method, and data from Twitter using the programming language for statistical analysis and data analysis, R. For the selection of questions to be used in the paper, it was necessary for the first phase to translate the questionnaire into Greek and then to select the questions that will be applied appropriately to the Greek data.
