Abstract

The objective of this paper is to explore the political attitudes of young voters who would be eligible to go to the ballot in the autumn of 2023 for the first time in their lives. The survey will be conducted in April 2023 in 2 Polish regions. One of them might be regarded as the PiS fortress (Podkarpackie region), while the second one is considered as the PO stronghold (Lubuskie region). As the percentage of Poles who claim that the quality of democracy has worsened since 2015 it is interesting to check if these views are shared by those who might be regarded as sincere as they did not have a chance to benefit so far from the clientelistic links built by PiS government. We will examine political preferences of young people in both regions, taking into account their attitudes to the economic and ideological values (left – right), their engagement in civil society initiatives, the role of the European Union, but also the pattern (if any exists among interviewed people) of the media consumption.
