Abstract

The paper analyses the communicational strategies of the main political actors involved in the war in Ukraine, using methodologies of the Critical discourse studies. Particular attention is given to the public speeches of the major exponents of the states directly involved in the conflict, the European Union representatives, and the military alliances’ leaders. The inquiry will try to unveil not only what is said to diverse audiences, but also what is kept silent, and what is hiding beyond the text. The main aim of the research is to contribute to the understanding of the new world (dis)order and the impact of the Ukrainian war in the first place on the democratization of the European Union and its member and accession states, in an information environment increasingly dominated by misinformation and disinformation strategies.
