Abstract

This paper focuses on the 2024 Greek European Parliament (EP) elections. Having witnessed the steepest decline in EU support at the mass and party level after the Euro crisis among Southern European countries, Greece comprises a crucial piece in the broader regional trends. The main aim of the paper is to contextualize the contest of 2024 in the history of EP elections in Greece. The paper will examine in depth the political context, the electoral campaign, and the outcome of the 2024 EP election in Greece to highlight points of continuity and change in relation both to the national-European nexus and the last parliamentary elections of June 2023.
