Abstract

The dynamics between the governing and opposition parties have been extensively studied in the literature. While we know a lot about these dynamics, the degree of knowledge is scarce when it comes to the factors that explain the success of the opposition parties’ legislative proposals. This article wants to fill this gap in the literature by looking to the opposition parties’ legislative proposals advanced between 2020-2024 in Romania. The analysis is based on individual-level data provided by 25 interviews with Romanian parliamentarians – both from opposition and governing parties – coupled with press reports and official statements.
