Abstract

The European Union should assume a stronger role in harmonising civic education across Member States. Fragmented national approaches are increasingly inadequate in the face of transnational democratic challenges such as populism and disinformation. The paper examines the normative and institutional case for strengthening existing EU-level educational instruments.
