Abstract

Film has always been used as a propaganda tool. Today, like no other medium, it is used as a platform for re-creating recent and more distant history to justify very real political actions, often military ones. American, Russian, and Chinese action cinema of recent years demonstrate the political engagement of filmmakers, not devoid of strategic and political inspirations. The aim of this presentation is to present the creative strategies implemented by filmmakers from superpower cinema, aimed at persuading international audiences, often lacking their own strong perspectives on political and international issues. To understand this phenomenon related to contemporary cinema, the achievements of propaganda cinema in Soviet Russia and the cinema of the Third Reich will also be discussed.
