Abstract

Rationale and overview Debates about ‘method’ in political philosophy are growing in importance and intensity. They centre around five questions: (1) What is political philosophy? (2) How idealistic or realistic should it be? (3) How universal or contextual should it be? (4) How abstract or action-guiding should it be? (5) How engaged should scholars be in the actual practice of politics? We discuss the latest work on these questions, building on the community that was gathered together by us in Prague (2016) and Oslo (2017).
