Proposal guidelines

Panel and Paper proposals should aim to contribute to the understanding of the conference Section themes and may be submitted by scholars at all career stages. You may also propose other formats such as roundtables and author-meets-critics.

The Call for Panel and Paper Proposals is now closed.

Good to know

To make a Paper proposal, you and your co-author(s) must have a My ECPR profile. If you don't already have one, you can create it here in just a few clicks.

  • You don't need to be affiliated with an ECPR Member institution to submit a proposal.
  • Each participant may submit up to 2 Papers (including co-authored Papers) or organised Panels. A mix of Panel and Paper proposals is allowed up to the total of 2. If you are proposing a panel AND a paper within that panel, this counts as one submission.
  • Papers submitted as part of a Panel do not need to be resubmitted individually.
  • If your Paper has more than one author, the person making the proposal will be listed as the Paper Presenter.

What you'll need

  • The Section number and/or title you wish to propose to, as listed in the Academic Programme
  • The abstract (no more than 350 words)
  • 3–5 keywords*, selected from a predetermined list, indicating the Paper’s subject, theme and scope
  • The email address of the Co-author and Presenter(s) as registered in My ECPR (if applicable)

*We use keywords to categorise Papers and Panels, enabling users to search the online programme.
