Abstract

In migration studies, while a substantive body of its work focuses on the policies of migration management and immigrant integration, it is equally important to explore the experiences of migrants in the host countries. The increased negative perceptions towards migrants, the adoption of restrictive policies, along with the aggravation of racist and xenophobic episodes over the past years have hindered the quality of integration of migrants and refuges in the host countries. By focusing on the effects of migration policies on migrants' daily lives, this panel aims to explore the multi-faceted experiences of migrants in the different domains of their lives, thus adopting a bottom-up perspective on migration governance.
