Kant's legal theory in the 'Metaphysics of Morals' includes under the umbrella of moral philosophy both ethics and philosophy of law. The relation in Kant between ethical laws and juridical laws has been both a topic of controversy for commentators and an issue which various respective interpretations has influenced the theories of several significant contemporary thinkers. This panel brings together papers which thematise the relation in Kant between ethical and juridical laws, and pursue their political implications, from the issue of lying in politics as an obstacle to social emancipation, to that of over-rationalisation as leading potentially to tyranny, to that of the possible limits to the spreading of information disorders.
