Abstract

This panel is organised to discuss the recent political changes in the Southern Europe and Mediterranean. The panel puts these changes into a historical, critical and analytical perspective: How are actors tranforming their identities based on their perceived threats, rivalries and crisis? What are the transformative forces when it comes to the global or regional power dynamics? What are the status quo states? What are dominant discourses over power, security and identity and how are those articulated with references to energy, borders, regimes and alliances? This panel will discuss contemporary developments with a historical and geneaological perspective. In this sense, it aims at contributing to the critical studies within the Foreign Policy and IR fields.
