Abstract

This panel deals with the democratic processes, parliamentary oversight and financial solidarity in Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). The papers examine a range of issues, such as accountability, financial solidarity, as well as the impact of institutional structure on policy. This panel discusses recent developments in the EU macroeconomic policy making in particular in the area of the National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRPs). The papers examine how domestic actors make use of the opportunities provided by the EU to combat the COVID-19 induced crisis and facilities provided to offset the economic crisis. Papers also examine the implications of the existence of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) for democratic scrutiny of public funds. These issues are discussed in these papers that employ a theoretical framework and apply it to detailed empirical case studies.
