Abstract

Almost twenty years after the publication of The Argumentative Turn in Policy Analysis and Planning (1993) a new edition of this book is being prepared. The justification for this has to do with the success of the book both in terms of its steady sales and the intellectual developments which it helped to generated. Since then, a large number of shifts that have occurred in the field, in particular new theories of discourse have emerged, and theories of performativity, rhetoric, gender and globalization had their impact on thinking about argumentation, In this panel, the new tendencies in argumentative policy analysis will be presented and discussed.
