If democracy is dying, isn't it time political theorists thought of something else?

Abstract

This roundtable considers the question: "If democracy is dying, isn't it time political theorists thought of something else?" Following a short introduction, including prize announcements and some live audience opinion-polling, this discussion will bring together four leading scholars (from our four ECPR political theory standing groups) to reflect on the current challenges facing democracy and in turn what political theorists ought to be doing about them. Following the initial exchanges, there will be ample time for audience discussion, providing delegates present with the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers on this timely and thought-provoking topic.
