While our second EP panel addresses the inter-institutional relations between the European Parliament and other legislative actors and institutions, this panel examines the intra-institutional dynamics of EP decision-making. The papers add to a growing but far from settled literature on the dimensions of political contestation within the EP, their relative salience, and implications for the behaviour of groups and MEPs, and their effects on political outcomes. Methodologically, the panel brings together diverse approaches, ranging from quantitative roll-call analyses via case-based studies to discourse analysis.
