Abstract

In comparative research, one is often confronted with a tension between the number of cases and the “in-depth” understanding of each individual case. In these situations, what is the relative potential of qualitative and quantitative methods? Papers in this panel explicitly treat this tension from a methodological/epistemological viewpoint, and from a « qualitative » and/or «quantitative» viewpoint.
