The panel will primarily deal with the influence of Europeanisation on the organisation, strategy, campaigning, communication and networking of political parties. It offers paper-givers the opportunity to assess the effects of 'Europe' on national parties and party systems as well as that of national parties on the European level of party competition. This panel is therefore likely to appeal most notably to EU specialists as well as those interested in leadership/elite behaviour, as well as more multi-level analysis. The panel will raise theoretical issues of convergence, socialisation, learning, imitation and diffusion in combination with networking and organisational aspects. It is also looking to research broader questions on the effect of Europeanisation on party political activity.
